*The Coalition for a Livable Future is excited to announce the launch of the Equity Atlas Toolkit to support communities across the United States in using maps to document disparities and promote greater equity. Equity atlases are tools that use high-quality maps and data to show where different demographic groups live; how well they are able to access key resources such as transit, quality education, affordable housing, jobs, food, and parks; and how these patterns affect their health and well-being. The toolkit walks users through the process of creating an equity atlas to support research, coalition-building, and policy change.
Since CLF's release of the nation's first Equity Atlas in 2007, several communities from across the country have been inspired to launch their own equity atlas projects. The toolkit will support additional efforts by providing an overview of the equity atlas development process along with sample materials and links to helpful resources.
The Equity Atlas Toolkit was developed by the Coalition for a Livable Future and the Oregon Health Care Quality Corporation, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
