The PAALF People's Plan Kaleidoscope Community Conversations reaches beyond neighborhood boundaries to bring black people from various backgrounds together to help brainstorm about an issue. This brings new insight into the community and its priorities.
This community discussion will be in collaboration with Sharita Towne, current artist-in-residence with Newspace and c3:initiative. Sharita's art and community collaboration is about unpacking our inherited burdens and understanding how they imprint on our lives today. Her work in gentrifying Portland began in 2013 when starting the project De-gentrifying Portland, and will continue this year through the project Our City in Stereo.
*This community discussion will be a safe space for African and African Americans to participate in the Paalf People's Plan. While other POC and non-POC allies are welcome to attend and observe. The Kaleidoscope discussion will be reserved for community members that identify as African and/or African American.
